The Town of Normal has announced that applications are being taken for an intensive course providing information about our local government, town services, and ways for residents to become more involved in their community.
All About Normal is a free program offered over an eight (8) week course. Participants will gain an understanding of the inner workings of Town government and services. Throughout this interactive program participants will meet Town Council members and key staff, learn the nuts and bolts of City processes, and create new relationships.
All About Normal is a free program open to residents and non-residents, however class size is limited. Participants must be at least 17-years-old and priority will be given to current Town of Normal residents. An application form is available on the Town website and must be completed by August 7, 2017. Participants must confirm their ability to attend seven (7) of the eight (8) classes. No prior experience is required, just a desire to learn more about our community.
2017 Class Schedule
This year's sessions will start on August 30, 2017 and continue every Wednesday through October 18, 2017. Sessions begin at 5:30 p.m. and conclude promptly at 8:00 p.m. Each week class members will interact with key staff and members of the Town’s leadership. A variety of learning tools including speakers, discussion, presentations, interactive exercises, and site visits will be used to create a dynamic learning environment. This is not a “death by power point” style program. Class members should expect to actively participate, question, and contribute while they learn about the challenges and opportunities facing our community.
